Six Steps In Creating Your Own Stationery

Kaitlyn Miller asked:

Stationery printing for personal or business use is very easy to do. In fact you can create your own personal stationery at home if you know what you are doing. This process can be cheaper overall, and you will have full control over the stationery printing design. To perform stationery printing at home, there are six key steps that you must follow.

1. Choose your stationery paper – Your first step should be to choose your stationery paper. Just go to your stationery store or paper depot and choose the paper stock that you want to print on. Depending on your personal tastes, you can choose from a variety of different types of paper. There are glossy coated paper stocks, thick and durable stocks, colored paper stocks and even stationery paper with inbuilt designs. Try to match your choice with your purpose. If it is a business stationery then maybe a more simple and formal paper stock will do. For personalized stationeries however, you can more or less choose anything you like.

2. Draw or scan any images that you want to use – The next step is to gather some images. You may probably want to add some custom images to your stationery printing. It can be a clipart, or a cartoon or other graphic that best represents your personality. If you are creating a business stationery than you may want to add in your company logo. Just gather up the images that you want to use, and if possible acquire the high resolution image files of them so that you will get a nice clear image of them as they are printed.

3. Download any supplemental content that you want – Besides images though, you should also try to download any other supplemental content or feature that you want to add to your custom stationery. This typically includes custom fonts, borders, quotes, tag lines and other such content. It is best to gather everything that you need for your initial design so that the design process itself runs smoother.

4. Use Microsoft Word to create your stationery letterhead – Once you have all your materials gathered, you can now attempt to create your stationery letterhead. You just need to go and edit the header section of your word document so that you can place all your stationery content as a header. Place in your image, text and other details in a nice and appealing layout. If you downloaded a custom font, be sure to install it first before typing in your content. Match all your design elements correctly so that you will have a nice coherent theme to work with.

5. Save it as a template – Once you have all your design elements in place, just save your document as a template. For Microsoft word, this means saving it with a (.dot) file extension or a Microsoft Word Template file. This is just so that you can use the document for future printings of your stationeries.

6. Print the design on your stationer paper – When everything is fixed, all you need to do is to print your personal stationery. Simply place your stationery paper in your home or office printer and print away. Make sure that the paper is oriented correctly so that your letterheads match the orientation of the design of the stationery paper.

So basically that is the way on how to do stationery printing at home. You can alter the steps so that you can add a watermark design, or other detail, but basically that is how to do it. It is simple, very easy to do and it doesn’t require any kind of special expertise.
