Entertainment Logos: Crucial for Image Building

Alice Shown asked:

Entertainment logos are representative of a company’s business and products. They play an extremely crucial in building a company’s image in the minds of its customers and associates and are used extensively in every communication from the company. Good logos are ones that are excellent memory triggers and result in instant recognition of a company and its business. Some of the famous entertainment logos are those of Walt Disney and Warner Bros.

Good Entertainment Logos

Good entertainment logos represent the foremost step in building an entertainment company’s professional image. An entertainment logo is good if it catches the attention of a maximum number of people and represents the true nature and culture of the organization.

Listed below are certain basic tips that can help make entertainment logos attractive and famous.

Fonts play a crucial part in the development of an eye-catching entertainment logo. Since fonts play an important role in the entertainment world, designers can play around with a variety of fonts and use them artistically to develop an attractive logo.

Bright colors such as red, blue, indigo, orange and their gradients can be used to design entertainment logos. Since such colors have a strong impact on a viewer’s mind, they are quite suitable for entertainment logos that are targeted at a wide variety of people.

One can mix and match several colors and fonts to develop an entertainment logo. The chances of experimenting are quite high in this segment. The appropriate use of colors, fonts and styles can make entertainment logos very effective and famous.

While experimenting, one should not go overboard and should try to be as simple as possible. Fancy decorative material does not work at all times.

Entertainment logos should be resizable, since they may need to be used in different media.

All the elements of an entertainment logo should be discernible when reproduced in different sizes and on varied kinds of paper or stationery.

Entertainment logos should be compatible with the web.

Entertainment logos should be fashionable and trendy.

Entertainment logos can be custom made or adapted from pre-designed templates offered by a variety of logo designers. Most designs used for developing logos for the entertainment industry use free style and radical writing with no usage of border lines. The use of graphics is widespread in the development of entertainment logos, but its extent varies from business to business and from company to company.

The expert team of creative designers at Pixellogo Creative Designs is engaged in the development of innovative and attractive logos for a variety of businesses including entertainment.

Entertainment Agencies – The Best Way To Find And Book Entertainment

Paul Sims asked:

Most people have had or been to an event or party at which they had entertainment. How did they find it? Was it any good? The answer to the first question is they probably used their local telephone directory, the Internet or had seen the act or service personally. The answer to the second question is sometimes yes and sometimes no.

So why use an entertainment agency to find what you are looking for? Well first it takes the hit and miss out of finding what you are looking for, a good entertainment agency has access to lots of different forms of entertainment and will save you the problem of locating it. Secondly a good entertainment agency lives on its reputation, so it is in their interest to make sure that the entertainment they supply is of good quality. As the saying goes, you are only as good as your last event. Imagine you are looking for a band, you can spend ages searching the net only to find that what you want is already booked, and searching can take hours, and do you have that time to spare? If you use the phone to contact entertainers and lets say contact 10 at an average of 3 minutes a call, that is 30 minutes of calls on your telephone bill, it may not seem much but it adds up especially if the contact number is a mobile one. And if you do manage to find what you are looking for how do you know it will be any good? Contacting a reputable entertainment agency takes away all the headaches, as they will do all the work for you.

There are things to bear in mind, a reputable agency has quality acts and services which will be in high demand, so make sure you start looking at least 3 months in advance of an event, don’t leave it until the last minute. Only contact one agency, many top quality agencies work with each other to source your needs, contacting 3 or 4 of them means they are duplicating work, time which could be spent on another client. If you were that other client ask yourself how you would feel, if the agency you were using had lost time they could have been using to help you. Running an entertainment agency we often used to get enquiries from people and start looking for their requirements only to have another agency contact us looking for the same thing for the same person. Nowadays we ask if any other agency is being used and if they are we polity refuse to waste time looking for the same thing, if we are told no other agency is involved and find out otherwise then we will drop the client. Many quality agencies act likewise, so you could find yourself back at square one or using a less than reputable entertainment agency.

The next question many people ask is how much will it cost, the answer is nothing unless you cancel, then you may have to pay a cancellation fee. An entertainment agency makes its money in the form of commission from the acts it represents, in other words they pay us for finding them the work. If you cancel the agency makes no commission, which pays for its time and effort on your behalf, therefore most agencies will make a cancellation charge, after all they have staff to pay just like any business. Similarly you might also have to pay a cancellation charge to an act or service in addition to the agency charge, if you have booked them then they are unable to take on other work for the date in question.

The other question is how long will it take? This can vary, many acts and services are registered with numerous agencies and don’t always keep them informed of availability, secondly each act will charge a fee depending on the factors of the event such as getting to it, possible overnight accommodation etc, so a reputable agency will make contact with them to find if they are available and at what cost. If an act or service is on holiday or working away it may take a while for them to get back to the agency, so allow for this. If you haven’t heard anything from an agency within 3 days then give them a call and ask for an update. A good agency will always tell you if they cannot find what you are looking for or if they have been unsuccessful. If that is the case then you can try another. Remember that with an agency you will get a contract, which will state all the relevant details, and you will have a legal document to give you peace of mind.

Remember entertainment agencies live to provide clients with a service, make use of it and save your time and a possible headache.

Jewel of the Seas – That’s Entertainment

Susan Bigmore asked:

One of the things that tend to stick in cruisers’ minds is the onboard entertainment. Gone are the days of second-rate entertainers and the same old shows. Today, a lot of effort is put in to organising entertainment on cruise ships and the entertainers could well be stars of the future. Who remembers Jane McDonald appearing on the documentary The Cruise? Also, Claire Sweeney, who appeared in Brookside, started off her career singing on cruise ships. You could also be wowed by stars from the present and past – I was pleased to see that Kelly Monteith (the American equivalent of Dave Allen) is going strong and can be seen on some Royal Caribbean cruises.

Inspired by my recent trip to see Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas, I decided to find out more about the entertainment onboard having heard so much about it. Royal Caribbean prides itself on its entertainment programme. You could be forgiven for thinking you’re actually in the West End rather than in the Coral Theatre onboard Jewel of the Seas. Shows include “From West End to Broadway” featuring musical numbers from Cole Porter to Les Miserable, “City of Dreams” with music from artists such as Elton John and Celine Dion, and “Tango Buenos Aires” starring Argentine dancers and musicians. Shows are put on twice each night to tie in with the two dinner sittings, so you won’t miss out, and are not repeated during the cruise – just the thing for theatre lovers.

As well as being wowed in the Coral Theatre onboard Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas, you can take part in numerous activities throughout the day, including gaming lessons (perfect for trying to make your fortune in the casino), game shows and piano lessons.

I went behind the scenes to ask Bobby Brown, the Cruise Director on Jewel of the Seas, a few questions about the entertainment onboard the ship. Born in Scotland, Bobby started his entertainment career at a very young 5 years old, competing in ballroom dancing competitions around the world. In 1998 he moved to London where he met his wife and together they competed professionally in ballroom dancing, reaching the rank of 19th in the world (a future dancer on Strictly Come Dancing perhaps). Bobby first started working in the cruise industry when he joined Sun Line Cruises in 1993 before moving to Royal Caribbean in 1995.

How long have you been in charge of entertainment on Jewel of the Seas?

Since November 2006, but I have been with Royal Caribbean International since 1995, when I started as cruise activities staff on Legend of the Seas. I moved to assistant cruise director in 1996 on Majesty of the Seas and was then promoted to Cruise Director in 1997. I have served on Legend of the Seas, Majesty of the Seas, Rhapsody of the Seas, Vision of the Seas, Brilliance of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas.

How far ahead do you plan the entertainment itinerary?

Guest entertainers can be booked as much as one year in advance, although we do have changes in the entertainment schedule sometimes just days before the start of the cruise. Guest activities are finalized only days before a cruise starts as we keep up to date with the final figures for guest demographics.

What is your favourite part of being in charge of entertainment?

Seeing smiles on the guests’ faces and hearing their comments about how much they enjoyed the entertainer.

Which show has been your favourite so far?

Ben Vereen (US star of stage and TV), Gordy Brown (singer impersonator who is big in Las Vegas) and Scott Record (US singing comedy impressionist).

Who is the most famous person you have had onboard providing entertainment?

Ben Vereen.

Inside Cruise: For those of you haven’t heard of Ben Vereen, he started his career in Broadway during the 1960s and has also appeared on TV (including Star Trek: The Next Generation and Grey’s Anatomy) and in films (including Funny Lady and All That Jazz).

Who would you like to have as part of the entertainment?

Scott Record, an incredible act. His show is unbelievable and I have seen him get a standing ovation in the first 10 minutes of his show. He is the only act I know that sings New York, New York as if it was skipping on an old juke box!

How many entertainment staff are onboard?

In all there are 71 onboard made up of 4 singers, 8 dancers, 25 musicians,11 technicians, 10 youth staff, 2 sports staff and 11 activities staff.

Phew! With such a range of quality entertainers and acts onboard you’ll be hard pushed to be bored on Jewel of the Seas.

Internships; The Best Way To Obtain Entertainment Jobs

Thomas Pretty asked:

Jobs within the entertainment industry vary greatly; the sectors are diverse and offer prospective employees options through a variety of mediums. Many see jobs in entertainment as limited to acting and presenting, what is often forgotten is the great deal of work that goes into production. Entertainment jobs therefore could fall into a number of categories such as finance, management and technical expertise.

Often when looking for entertainment jobs prospective employees will be forced into beginning their career on the bottom rung. Internships offer applicants the best way for beginning a career in the entertainment industry.

Internships can be found with some major players in the industry, the big movie production houses such as Warner or music industry giants such as Universal all offer internships. These internships however are often poorly paid and in many cases are not paid at all.

The key to entering the entertainment industry and finding reasonably well paid jobs is to build up large amount of contacts. Frequently in entertainment it is not what you know but who you know. That said it is vital when attempting to secure a position, either as an intern or fully fledged employee to have a real desire to work within that industry sector. Enthusiasm is a fundamental part of the entertainment industry and those who hold jobs all have a love for what they do.

The music industry falls under the more general term of entertainment. Jobs within this sector are fiercely sought and being an outstanding candidate is not easy. Whether trying to become a record producer or even a PA, lower level jobs are once again usually poorly paid.

These entry level jobs however are just a means to an end; while working as a junior it is important to impress everyone you meet, the contacts you make during the early stages of your career could be vital in securing future jobs.

The film industry is renowned for employing low level workers who amount to little more than dogsbodies. The term ‘runner’ is often included in jobs within the film industry; the job role is much like it sounds and doing errands makes up a large portion of these types of jobs. They do however offer real chances of career progression and are often seen as a ‘foot in the door’ of the entertainment industry.

Television production is an extremely laborious task and hence the jobs on offer are high in number. Financiers can often find work with television companies while those with artistic flare may be lucky enough to enter the writing or production field. For those who would like to enter the world of journalism, local TV offer the best chance of opportunity as local news offices regularly employ junior reporters.

Many get into the entertainment industry to become famous, or at least appear on TV. This however is rarely an advisable course to follow as numbers of those performing in front of the cameras are small. On the other hand there are success stories of those who have slaved away behind the scenes for years and eventually been allowed to present or act. Competition for acting and presenting positions is high, factors such as your charisma and aesthetic worth will be instrumental in your chances to appear in front of the camera.

There is no doubt that jobs within the entertainment industry are available, however getting into positions is difficult and requires a lot of perseverance. In an industry that is famed for treating its junior employees badly it is a career path that must be stuck to despite the many setbacks. Often success in this industry relies on a lucky break or having the right contacts. While jobs may be sparse the best way to enter the entertainment industry is to take a low paid internship and strive to cement your place before the internship ends.

Music for Corporate Entertainment

J Williams asked:

For many years I have supplied music for and played in bands that provide music for corporate entertainment. Clients have included Audi, The Evening Standard, Sainsburys, P.C. World, Safeways, Large corporate clients at Henley and Ascot, I.T.V. and H.M. Treasury. Because of this experience I felt it would be relevant in putting down some pointers in helping clients choose the right kind of music for their particular corporate entertainment.

Interestingly enough, most corporate hospitality entertainment work tends to require music as an ingredient to a larger recipe. What I mean by this is a great deal of corporate events are offering a multi service package. Typically an organization may be putting on an evenings entertainment to thank its workforce for a particularly successful year. They may be offering music, food, comedy, a close up magician, a casino and a caricaturist. The corporate client organizing needs to decide what part the music has to play in the days/evenings entertainment.

Questions he or she needs to ask are:

Is the music specifically for entertainment or is the music for background listening?

Do we need one style of music early on in the proceedings and then a change of style later in the days/ evenings entertainment?

Do you expect the corporate clients to be networking and discussing business or are they just there for a good time?

What overall atmosphere do you want to project with the event?

Is there going to be a change of location for the music as the entertainment event unfolds?

Different styles of music bands lend themselves to different corporate hospitality situations. Below are a number of typical corporate hospitality events with music suggestions for suitable music entertainment.

Corporate entertainment model 1.
Evening reception with dinner and speeches.
In a situation such as this you will typically need music from the outset as part of the meet and greet of the corporate evening. A four-piece swing or Latin group is ideal with a larger ensemble for particularly large gatherings. A professional outfit can pitch the music at just the right decibel level so your guests can talk and enjoy the entertainment without it encroaching on conversations. The musicians would typically be dressed in Lounge Suits or Tuxedos (or the female equivalent) to mirror what the guests are wearing themselves. The music portrays an atmosphere of sophistication, which again hopefully reflects the evenings overall ambience.

It is rare for corporate clients to want to dance especially as clients there relationship is business not pleasure! In most cases it is more important that the band is flexible in when it is needed over the course of the evening i.e. At the top of the night for the reception, a smaller version of the band (The pianist maybe for the dinner), stopping for speeches and then after the speeches to play until other entertainment is put on for the corporate clients. In this situation give the band a clear idea of how you expect the evening to go. What to wear, when they will be needed, when they need to get their instruments in the building and be set up, when breaks will be required, let them know if it is convenient or not to feed them and then finally how they can leave when finished so as not to disrupt the rest of the entertainment.

Corporate entertainment model 2.
Company Party.
Still corporate entertainment, still corporate hospitality but a totally different set of requirements for the music. Ask yourself these questions: Are your work force the type of workforce who will want to dance at some point in the proceedings? If they are, then a professional band with flexibility is essential. My experience is that people of all ages will join together to dance to music from the sixties and seventies. Whatever background music you require earlier in the day/evening be it Latin, Swing, Rat Pack or Lounge, if you are hoping to provide entertainment that will get people dancing remember this fact. Sixties and Seventies. For some inexplicable reason this is the music that gets people up on their feet.

When choosing your music ask the band if they can cover this part of the corporate entertainment requirement. Get samples of their music if need be. There is nothing worse than an ill equipped band struggling through alien repertoire. However good the band is, if they do not play the right repertoire, the right style of music then the corporate entertainment will fall on deaf ears.

Let me at this point provide a caveat. Your workforce work together They are not always going to be the best of friends however professional their relationships are at work. Answer truthfully, will they really want to dance together or is it asking too much? I would say that in all the years of providing music for this kind of corporate entertainment / hospitality , as long as the music is right, the workforce tended to dance 30 or 40% of the time. It could be said that a workforce who will enjoy each others company in this way is a reflection on the talent of senior management to create a happy team!

Corporate entertainment model 3.
Company Fun Day.
These come in two types. The type to entertain your own workforce or the type to entertain prospective clients. Both types of corporate entertainment require music that is fun. This means that the music must be perceived as fun and the band must be perceived as fun. In both cases Jolly Dixieland Jazz or the summer sounds of Latin music are most suitable.

Ask yourself these questions: does the band need to be mobile? Meaning do you want the music to move around the site at various points in the proceedings? If so then the jolly jazz route is most suitable. A good professional outfit of four or five players can play acoustically and move around a site as directed.

If the band can be static and close to electrical power then either Jolly Jazz or Latin Music is suitable.

Is the event outdoors or indoors and do you have provision for bad weather? This is England, never trust to luck, assume the worst! Any band that needs power cannot play in the rain for health and safety reasons. At the first hint of inclement weather a band will have to breakdown their equipment. Build this situation into your corporate entertainment music decisions.

How do you want the band to dress? It is a fun day after all! In the past I and my musicians have dressed as Elvis, Cavemen, Circus Clowns, in fact all manner of characters in the name of corporate entertainment and corporate hospitality. Good bands will have suitable outfits for most situations but don`t hesitate in providing something off the wall for a special event. Most professional players have a strange urge to jump into such costumes at the earliest possibility! As someone who has played at a nudist camp and for a toga party, both dressed accordingly, take my word for it!

To draw this article together let me say this. Choose the right kind of music for the event. Brief the band accordingly but make sure you have a professional and flexible outfit, things can change over the course of the event and you want to make sure the band are both co-operative and able to fulfill your needs. Don`t hesitate to ask the band for any special requirements you have. Do it in plenty of time so they have time to prepare.

The corporate entertainment and hospitality you offer to your guests reflects directly onto your company. The music and musicians must be the type who are aware of this. Dont go for second best just to save a small amount of money. You need a well prepared, well dressed band who are both polite and charming to your guests. They need to play the right kind of music for the event in order to help make the day or evenings corporate entertainment a resounding success!

Corporate Entertainment Magic

Bryan Leach asked:

When organizing a corporate event entertainment, there are several types of things to be considered. Corporate events require a significant amount of preparation. Depending upon the type of event which is being organized, you will need to consider the possibility of the event, which is going to be attended by different types of people, the place, ambience, food and many other things. The entertainment hired for the occasion can make the difference either a grand appreciation or a depressing breakdown. What kind of performers should you hire? What will your audience appreciate? What might offend them? Each of these questions can play a major role in choosing the proper corporate event entertainment. The performances put forth by the performers can impact the success of your event and the type of entertainment you have organized, also matters how much your audience will remember and for how long.

When entertainment matters, the type of performers you hire will depend largely upon the type of crowd your event will attract. For certain events, like, an awards event that is held for an industry with a large older population may not be well-matched rather can’t accept a rock band. Likewise, on the other hand, if you have organized an event to celebrate your company’s product launch, you may consider using acrobats and magic as well to excite your audience.

If you want to create a different impact and make your corporate event a memorable one, you have to make your corporate event to go smoothly, of course. However, you can easily aspire higher and make your event memorable. When your guests are leaving your corporate event, they will surely have a long lasting impression of it. Within few days, the impression might dilute, until and unless there was something special that created an impression, a memory for them. An incredible light show, an amusing comedian, amazing magic by professional magicians or a professional speaker can each leave a constructive impression in your guests’ minds.

There are a number of reasons to hire live entertainment for your corporate affair and thereby making a great impression. A well-tuned performance can rejuvenate your guests and capture their attention.

Making great impressions is how a performer and the crew of characters gather attention — attention on television, in film, and at all kinds of corporate entertainment venues. By no means is a typical standup comedian, a unique performer, and experienced corporate event entertainment professional that will delight your audience while keeping a clear eye toward helping you to achieve your meeting’s goals and objectives.

The audience at your corporate entertainment event will be overjoyed and focused as a magician or a comedian brings the evening alive to entertain you, and to memorably deliver your important messaging. In such ways they help you to improve office communications. People at the gathering, know and remember the corporate event and its messages for a longer time, which results in greater enthusiasm and performance.  So that’s what corporate entertainment is! Choosing the correct entertainment for the audience and the overall goals of the event is fifty-fifty percent of the solution. Each event is different and is treated on a different note and in a different manner on the basis to produce the very best performance, stage decorations and sound coverage.

Different corporate magicians give a different performance in different forms of events entertainment from corporate events, party entertainment and Christmas entertainment. All the entertainment is to the highest standard, is tried and time tested and comes highly recommended by all. All entertainment ranges from the best acts and entertainers. All corporate entertainment performers have one simple philosophy is to provide high class entertainment that suits the hosts needs and that will fully guarantee the success of their event.

Top 7 Do’s and Don’ts of Being an Entertainer

Nariman Taweel asked:

Entertaining at an event is an important responsibility. Whether it is a corporate event, social event or wedding there are certain things that all entertainer should do and also things they should avoid.  By following these do’s and don’ts will guarantee success and avoid failure.

1.       Be Punctual – Being late to any event is unacceptable and demonstrates unprofessional behaviour.  As an entertainer your time is being paid for so there is no excuse for being late.  In fact being early will allow you to mingle with the guests and or attendees. This will assist you in building a strong rapport with the guests at the event and if asked for feedback attendees will be more inclined to be positive.

2.        Ensure you are prepared – It is essential to know your audience.  This is especially important in a corporate environment.  At a corporate event you should attempt to present something knew or provides strategies for applying some common sense work practices.  Never patronise your audience.  At a social event it is a priority to set up before the guest arrive.  As an entertainer you don’t want the guest to see you struggling with you equipment.

3.       Make sure that you are relevant – Make sure that you meet the client’s needs and understand the theme or desired outcome of the event.  As an entertainer the worst thing you could do is to present something those conflicts with the theme or is repetitive.  Ensure you know what other entertainers are presenting so that you alter your act to be different and innovative.

4.       Always attempt to position yourself in front of the event or so as to allow all attendees or guests to get a good view of you.  You are after all the entertainer and it is your job to capture the attention of all at the event.

5.       Familiarise yourself with key people’s names such as any guests of honour, people you may have to introduce, the birthday girl or boy or event the CEO of the company at the event.

6.       Enthusiasm is the key to engaging the crowd and as a professional entertainer you should have some strategies for this in your bag of tricks. A good entertainer will excite and inspire a crowd and keep them wanting more.

7.       Provide Varied Entertainment – If you are entertaining for any length of time, you should attempt to split the time up into different activities.  You don’t want the guest and the attendees to be bored or become distracted, so varying the activities will be essential in keeping an upbeat vibe and the interest of all.

Following these simple rules will ensure that you are a hit at any event.  As entertainers you want the hosts to have had a positive experience and consider you for their next event.  WOM is an entertainer’s most constructive marketing tool.

Entertainment Insurance for the Creative Soul

virgilio vallecera asked:

Are you one of those creative people who would relatively starve as opposed to be caught working a nine-to-five desk job? One who is bursting provided imagination and needs an outlet for ideas? One who wants to, or by now does, work in the entertainment industry, whether it is the business of filmmaking or producing Broadway shows? If so, you need to mull over purchasing entertainment insurance.

Entertainment indemnity can be compared to the workplace indemnity available to standard, nine-to-five jobs. Entertainment insurance can cover liability issues, as well as damages to or theft of the equipment you, your staff, and your cast use for your entertainment performances. Entertainment insurance can act as worker’s compensation if you, your staff, or your cast become injured on the job, and entertainment insurance can even help cover the values of production if the injury or illness of you, your staff, or your cast delays further creation for a certain quantity of time.

You can also purchase additional entertainment protection that goes beyond just covering you, your staff, and your cast, as well as your equipment and production costs. You can deal entertainment insurance to cover the price levels of injuries and/or damages to audience members and/or such a belongings caused by your performance, as well.

Most entertainment protection policies endure just for a specific amount of time, and this amount of moment is generally the beginning, the during, and sometimes the ending of your performance. When you purchase entertainment insurance, you need to let your insurance agent can appreciate how long the entertainment policy must last. If you fail to do this, your entertainment insurance policy may run out before it’s time, and if an accident occurs, you’re stuck with no entertainment insurance.

Yes, there are many differences between the world of entertainment employment and the world of nine-to-five jobs; however, protecting your workplace, your employees, yourself, and your customers by getting insurance is definitely not one of those differences.
